A man charged in the killing last week of a 17-year-old in Westwood also faces an assault charge after court documents say he struck a police officer in the face after trying to take the officer’s gun from his holster.
Thomas Robinson, 23, was arrested June 16, records show, in the shooting death early that morning of 17-year-old Joseph Reno Armstrong Jr. at an apartment at 2627 Montana Ave.
Another person was wounded in the shooting, police said.
As officers were exchanging Robinson’s handcuffs in a Cincinnati Police Department interview room, court documents say Robinson “grabbed (the) police officer’s weapon in an attempt to remove (it) from the holster.” Officer James Ball was injured during the struggle when the documents say he was “struck in the face.”
Robinson, who was convicted in November of drug trafficking, had a bag of heroin in his sock when he was arrested, the documents say.

He was arraigned Wednesday on multiple charges including murder. He is being held at the Hamilton County jail on bonds totaling more than $1.7 million.
