Demi Lovato performs on ABC's 'Good Morning America' at SummerStage at Rumsey Playfield, Central Park on June 17, 2016 in New York City
Demi Lovato has had enough of hateful comments on social media. The 23-year-old singer took to Twitter to express her frustration with Internet trolls that apparently care too much about what she says.
“Damn I gotta quit sayin shit. Bye Twitter and Insta,” the “Cool for the Summer” performer wrote on Monday after the world wide web exploded with articles addressing her comments about Mariah Carey.
She added, “I like Snapchat cause I don’t have to see what some of y’all say. Follow me if you want: theddlovato.”
Last Friday, Demi inserted herself into one of the most talked-about pop feuds at the moment, Mariah Carey vs. Jennifer Lopez.
“You got it the wrong way around honey,” Lovato commented on a meme making fun of online purchases by using Carey (the online version) and Ariana Grande (the real life version) as examples.
After several mean replies, Demi jumped back into the conversation.
“This is why I posted what I did,” she said. “Jen keeps it classy but I’m not afraid to say shit. The woman is mean for no reason. Extremely talented? Yes. Superhuman? Possibly. Unnecessarily rude? Absolutely.”
After 5 days of dealing with trolls, Demi decided enough was enough.
“But why do people actually give a f*ck what I say?” she questioned. “Like, if you don’t care then gtfo haha”
Demi’s Twitter and Instagram accounts are still active but she has not shared any posts since she announced she was quitting social media.
Jennifer Lopez and Mariah Carey have been making the headlines in the past couple of months after the “We Belong Together” performer once again claimed “she didn’t know” Lopez.
“I don’t have a feud against her at all,” JLo told Bravo's Andy Cohen. “I know from back in the day, I’ve read things that she’s said about me that we not the greatest, but we have never met. Like, we don’t know each other.”
She continued, “I think it’s kind of from word of mouth of things that have happened in the past that I’m not really aware of. But I don’t know.
